Malaysian brands among top brands in Singapore

A new survey by Brands Alliance showed that Malaysian brands were included in the list of top Asian brands for Singapore consumers, reported Bernama.

The list was based on consolidated research on the influence of Asian brands in Singapore from 2013 to 2015. It covered over 4,000 consumers nationwide involving brands from Japan, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan and Malaysia.

In a statement, Brand Alliance, which used fast growing brand leadership platform Influential Brands for the survey, noted that Malaysian brands which topped the list were primarily from the Fast-Moving Consumer Brands (FMCG) like Ah Huat White Coffee, Hup Seng and Julie’s Biscuits.

Brands from the Food and Beverage industry included PappaRich and The Manhattan Fish Market. Other Malaysian brands cited by Singapore consumers were Royal Selangor (luxury pewter), AirAsia (low cost carrier), Resorts World (integrated resort), SP Setia and Hatten Group (property developer).

The study showed that given the close proximity as well as free trading efforts between the two countries, most firms in Malaysia have made Singapore as their first overseas market, said Brands Alliance.

“Therefore, Malaysia brands have gained strong brand recall amongst Singapore consumers for their nostalgic attachment, strong branding and exposure.”
