Sunway Property today unveiled their latest initiative in promoting their flagship development, Sunway Iskandar, Nature’s Capital City in Medini Iskandar Malaysia with Asia’s biggest obstacle challenge – The Sunway Iskandar Viper Challenge @ Medini.

Viper Challenge is Asia’s first and biggest obstacle challenge event, established in 2013 and now in its third year has racked up an impressive track record of staging five mega events and catering to almost 100,000 participants from Malaysia, the ASEAN region and from as far as Europe.

In line with Sunway’s plan to nurture and foster a vibrant community in Medini Iskandar, Viper Challenge’s core values of camaraderie, teamwork and determination set the tone to bring people together to challenge themselves and to explore Sunway Iskandar and its offerings.

The idea to bring Viper Challenge out to Johor was the brainchild of Medini Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd, as they were looking for the right concept and event that would bring people here and give them a chance to physically explore the development that is taking place, Viper Challenge fits all of the criteria. Being traditionally based within Klang Valley and its surrounding area, the Sunway Iskandar Viper Challenge @ Medini marks the first time that the event will be held outside the Klang Valley region.

Sunway Iskandar touted as Nature’s Capital City indeed has plenty to offer in terms of natural and unique terrains with around 700 acres of natural elements such as Emerald Lake, Pendas River, the Straits of Johor, lush greenery and forest participants will be treated to a cornucopia of challenges both natural and man-made which is unique to Johor.

“We would like to encourage our community here to get active and enjoy the outdoors. In line with Sunway Property’s theme for 2016, Living Sunway, Living Community, we are continuously looking for means and ways to create healthy lifestyles for the community and opportunities to relate to each other. “Living Sunway Living Community” reasserts the community to live every dream, learn without limits, having work-live balance, play beyond imagination in a safe, healthy and connected environment. With that, communities are able to build long-lasting relationships that help propel forward together towards a brighter future ahead,” added Sunway Iskandar CEO Gerard Soosay.

The Challenge will see participants challenge themselves over a 20km course filled with up to 25 natural and man-made obstacles, the event is challenged based and as long as you cross the line you will be awarded a medal and a T-shirt to cement your bragging rights, one of the events key messages is “leave no one behind” reflects that these challenges are designed to foster a sense of community and not competition.

Since its inception in 2013, the event has been an exciting event not only for fitness enthusiast but for everyone, as feedback from participants have shown that it is treated as a fun day out to spend with friends and family, a great team building and bonding tool for organisations and groups, and just a great way to meet new people in a positive environment. Participants can either participate as an individual or as a group of any size.

Viper Challenge Operations Director, Mr. Simran Latif said, “It is certainly great to see Sunway Iskandar, one of Medini’s stakeholder take the lead as the title sponsor for the event. We are very proud to be the first ones to bring this new and exciting concept to Johor which will continuously encourage Malaysians to stay active and keep the sporting and fitness lifestyle industry in Malaysia fresh, new and innovative.”

“As a budding smart and sustainable township poised to become the pulse of Iskandar Puteri, we are excited to see the Viper Challenge being held in Medini. We strongly support and promote an active and healthy lifestyle where Medini has been a prominent venue for several running and cycling events. Kudos to Sunway Iskandar for recognising the undeniable value in sponsoring this popular obstacle race. We believe the event provides an ideal opportunity to showcase the uniqueness of our developing township as a vibrant lifestyle destination that brings communities together in a diverse landscape,” Medini Iskandar Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Ir. Khairil Anwar Ahmad.

The Sunway Iskandar Viper Challenge @ Medini will be held on Saturday, 30th of April 2016 to take advantage of the long labour day weekend, the event targets 10,000 participants and to date have sold over 4000 tickets, tickets can be purchased online at www.viperchallenge.com and the event will also cater to spectators where there will be food, entertainment and some special challenges for non-participants.
