The highly anticipated contest for aspiring young interior designers, IJM Land Designer Award 2016, came to a conclusion yesterday as the Gold and Silver winner was announced at The Arc, Bandar Rimbayu.
The competition received over 100 applications and the 6-person jury evaluated and shortlisted the candidates for Round 2. The shortlisted candidates attended workshops with the collaborating sponsors such as Signature Kitchen Sdn Bhd, Urban Culture by Fella Group, Philips Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Jotun Paints (M) Sdn Bhd and Inovar Resources Sdn Bhd.
“By organizing this competition, we wanted to give young aspiring interior designers an opportunity to bring their ideas to live. The participating contestants were given an allocation of RM150,000 each to design the Penduline showrooms,” said IJM Land Managing Director Edward Chong Sin Kiat.
The winner was determined by the jury (70%) and also the public (30%) who was invited to vote for their favourite designer during Family Day on 28th and 29th May.
At the award ceremony yesterday, Leo Wong Kwan Theng was named the Gold winner and was awarded a cheque worth RM18,000 and a Mac Book Pro; meanwhile, Goh Sow Yee was announced as the Silver winner and awarded with a cheque worth RM12,000 and an iPhone 6s plus.
Penduline is the name of the latest development in Bandar Rimbayu’s Fauna precinct. The 625 uniquely designed double-storey link homes range from a gross built-up area of 1,771 sq ft to 2,283 sq ft. The Penduline houses come with several layouts, with its selling price starting from as low as RM689,800.
The first and second phase of this development are expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2018. The first two phases are 90% sold, and the third phase of this project is up for sale at the moment.
