A 2.56ha recreational park along Jalan PUJ 4 has opened last week, so residents of Taman Puncak Jalil in Seri Kembangan can now enjoy this amenity after more than 10 years of waiting for it.
But even before its official launch, the locals have started strolling through the park and made use of its facilities, including gazebos, garden chairs and a walkway running to the hilltop. There are also new signboards and garbage bins, while additional greeneries were planted to complement the existing trees within the area.
Last week, the Subang Jaya Municipal Council took over the maintenance of the recreational park from its builder Maxisegar Sdn Bhd, with plans to allocate a budget of around RM200,000 per annum for its upkeep.
According to Municipal Council President Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan, the construction of the park originally began in 2003. It was abandoned in 2006, but was subsequently restarted after “the council urged the developers to ensure that the project is completed for the benefit of the people.”
He added that the park is the result of Subang Jaya residents’ aspiration for a clean and eco-friendly environment, as indicated in their ‘Wishlist Green City 2030’.
