All participating developers and contractors in the Johor Affordable Homes scheme (RMMJ) have been instructed to complete 60,000 dwellings on time over the next three years.
Notably, Johor’s state government is offering three categories of affordable homes, namely the Perumahan Komuniti Johor (PKJ) Type A home spanning 750 sq ft and costing RM42,000, the 850 sq ft PKJ Type B flat priced at RM80,000 and the 1,000 sq ft RMMJ house costing RM150,000.
One of the latest RMMJ developments consists of 444 two-storey townhouses that will be constructed in Johor Bahru. Amenities include a surau, kindergarten, recreational park, a multi-purpose hall and a centralised garbage collection centre.
According to Johor Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, the project would be built by Gunung Impian Development Sdn Bhd (GIDSB), and more than 6,000 RMMJ residences are targeted to be completed in Taman Impian Emas.
GIDSB Director Tan Sri A. Razak Ramli revealed that the 1,214ha RMMJ project at Taman Impian Emas is 11km away from Senai International Airport. It also has primary and secondary schools plus a college.
“It is a well-planned development with attractive features such as hilltop recreational parks, linear parks, a nine-hole golf course, a jogging path along the green boulevard and a basketball court.”
So far, 4,300 of the total 25,000 proposed houses there have been built. Of this, GIDSB has already completed 559 low-cost houses and commercial units.
“The RMMJ houses that we plan to develop here will be built right on track for those who qualify to purchase the units.”
“We will also ensure that good quality infrastructures and amenities are provided in line with our Chief Minister’s hopes to offer homes in a clean, safe and green environment,” Razak added.
