5 Reasons Why You Should Live Further Away from the City

With the unrealistic prices of properties in Kuala Lumpur, more and more people are turning toward properties in the suburbs. Many buyers are unhappy that they are being forced to make this decision, but unknown to them, being forced to live in the suburbs may be a blessing in disguise. So what are the advantages?

 

Lower Cost of Living

 

This point may yet be the most undisputed one. Similar to Singaporeans coming to Malaysia to purchase their groceries due to the lower cost of living across the borders, KL-ites occasionally visit smaller towns for better bargains too.

The best example of this is the difference in cost of living between Kuala Lumpur and Klang. Although both are not very far apart, the cost of living between both places are clear, with Klang being the clear winner in affordability.

A bowl of pan mee in Kuala Lumpur can easily cost RM7, while a bowl of pan mee in Klang still costs only about RM4.50. And as for seafood, 1kg of crabs in Kuala Lumpur can easily cost approximately RM60, while the same amount of crabs in Klang would cost approximately only RM30.

So imagine living in the outskirts and the cost of living there.

 

Lower Living Density

 

Let’s face it, living in the city is not only similar to living in a concrete jungle but also a sea of humans. And this is unsurprising as the total population within the KL City alone in the year 2016 hit 1.76 million.

Compared to the increasingly popular town of Semenyih, which not even a growth spurt of 15,100 people in 1991 to over 45,000 in the year 2000, could bring the numbers in Semenyih close to the population numbers KL City.

Due to this, major developers like UMLand are moving to the outskirts to provide family homes like the Albury 2 in Mahkota Hills.

Better Value for Money

 

Due to the lower cost of living and lower density in the suburbs, the cost of land and development is also on the lower side. Because of this, new developments in the suburbs are much bigger, and are usually more affordably priced.

A good example of this is Albury 2 in Mahkota Hills. A double storey Link house sized at 1,704 sq ft in this development costs only RM419,400 after discount. Compare this to a development such as Dua Menjalara, a condominium in Bandar Menjalara which a unit sized at 1,358 sq ft cost RM862,000 during its launch, and you will know which one offers better value for money.

 

Better Living Environment

 

Aside from more affordable homes and a lower cost of living, buying a home in the suburbs may also be better for the health – and we’re not just talking about lower stress levels from lower instalments, but also from a greener perspective.

In the concrete city of Kuala Lumpur, green spots are few and far between. Most of the places have been tamed by development with one of the few rare natural green spots still left in the Kuala Lumpur city being the KL Forest Eco Park. But even this green spot is located so close to development, that hikers are able to see the concrete jungle while hiking.

Compared to the popular suburb of Semenyih where city dwellers flock to during weekends to hike, the mountains and nature in this town is beautiful. Places like Broga Hill attract throngs of KL-ites, while the sheer amount of nature in the town encourages fun places like Rabbit Fun Land.

Developments like Albury 2, situated in Semenyih, is popular for its proximity to nature. In fact, this development is even more fun to live in because of its full club facilities amidst a low density of landed properties within 52.1 acres of land which 20 acres is dedicated to a central park. At only RM419,400 after discount for a 1,704 sq ft Link house, Albury is popular amongst those looking for a better home.
