The Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) is set to become another landmark project in Kuala Lumpur and the development’s first phase is expected to be handed over by 2021, reported The Star.
Located on the former site of Pudu Prison, Phase I of BBCC comprises the RM1.6 billion Mitsui Shopping Park Lalaport, 43-storey strata office tower The Stride, an entertainment hub that houses the Malaysia Grand Bazaar (MGB) and a live event hall by Sony’s Zepp brand that can accommodate about 2,500 people.
Overall, the massive project has a land area of 19.8 acres and has a gross development value (GDV) of RM8.7 billion. It is being jointly undertaken by UDA Holdings, Eco World Development Group and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).
When fully completed, BBCC will feature a shopping centre, a lifestyle hotel, an entertainment hub, four blocks of serviced apartment and three blocks of strata and corporate offices, plus an 80-storey signature tower with high-end residences, corporate offices, and a five-star hotel.
“A lot of thought has been put into this project especially the tunnels that they will be constructing to disperse traffic in this area,” said Eco World Senior Manager Raymond Lee on Monday (19 Nov) during a briefing on the project.
Notably, BBCC’s first phase will also include traffic tunnels going to Jalan Galloway from Jalan Hang Tuah and another along Jalan Changkat Thambi Dollah. There will also be a new transportation hub to connect the Merdeka MRT station with the Hang Tuah LRT station.
According to Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad, he is pleased with the project’s progress as well as the traffic plans proposed by Eco World. As such, he supports and looks forward to BBCC’s completion.
