From 64 plots of land, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is now focusing its probe to 16 plots only.
This comes after the commission has cleared 48 plots out of the 64 plots of land allegedly sold by the KL City Hall (DBKL) without an open tender during ex-Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor’s administration, reported Malaysiakini.
Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng, who filed a report with MACC in May to investigate the matter, revealed that DBKL had also been cleared of all wrongdoing “even though the plots were sold without an open tender and at below the market prices”.
With a combined area of 424.29acres, the 64 plots of land had a total transaction value of RM4.28 billion, said Lim back then.
He noted that less than 50 percent of the land were sold for the development of Federal Territories Affordable Housing (RUMAWIP) while the others were set aside for the development of high-end homes and commercial products.
It was reported in June that MACC seized documents related to the sale of the 64 land plots from DBKL’s premises.
Lim said the remaining 16 are still being investigated as MACC found “some issues with their land titles and payments – 10 of which have not been paid in full and their land titles have not been transferred (to the buyers) yet”.
While he did not identify the plots still under probe, Lim assured that “innocent parties caught up in the probe would have their names cleared”.
“For those who are clean and not involved in corrupt practices, I will restore their good names and ensure their plots will be cleared by the MACC…But for those involved in any ‘hanky panky’, I will make sure they will be brought to book,” he said.
