Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin said the government is mulling to extend the Home Ownership Campaign (HOC) until end-2021.
Zuraida revealed that she had requested Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz to permit the extension, reported Bernama.
She noted that MOF will “probably review the conditions” before allowing the extension. She also expects the conditions to be a bit different from the current ones.
As at 28 February this year, a total of 34,354 housing units worth RM25.6 billion were sold during the 2020-2021 HOC. The total discounts given out, on the other hand, amounted to RM4.3 billion, said Zuraida.
The incentives offered under the HOC include stamp duty exemption and 10% discount for eligible applicants to acquire homes worth between RM300,000 and RM2.5 million.
