After a thorough study, the government has decided to cancel the Kuala Lumpur-Klang bus rapid transit (BRT) project since the service will overlap with the light rail transit 3 (LRT3) project.

“The LRT3 project covers the route from Bandar Utama to Johan Setia in Klang through Glenmarie, Shah Alam and Klang town,” Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.

She made the statement in response to a parliament query from Dr Ong Kian Ming (DAP-Serdang).

The Kuala Lumpur-Klang BRT project’s cancellation was announced by the government early this month.

Nancy explained that the government prioritised the LRT3 project after it took into consideration various factors, including the fact that the project will cover areas with no access to any city rail service.

Separately, she revealed that a better monthly pass package will be launched by Rapid KL in the first quarter of 2018 to help reduce the cost of living of the people.
