Groundbreaking works for the first phase of the Priya Scheme Development at Mukim Penor, which will feature over a thousand affordable homes, is set to commence in three weeks’ time, reported The Star.

Set to be completed in two years, the mixed development project is a 50:50 joint venture between Yayasan Pahang (YP) and O&C Resources Berhad (OCR) subsidiary, O&C Properties (Kuantan) Sdn Bhd (OCPK).

The project, which is about 20km away from Kuantan town centre, comprises 979 terrace housing units priced from RM125,000 to RM145,000, 130 semi-detached housing units priced from RM160,000 to RM180,000 as well as 41 shoplots.

According to YP general manager Datuk Mahmud Mohd Nawawi, the project aims to provide proper housing for the public.

“We are not looking for profit but to give people a chance to own homes,” he said.

The RM166 million project is nestled on a 40ha site, which is part of YP’s 329ha land.

OCR managing director Billy Ong noted that the collaboration is only the beginning and that the company is looking to partner YP in other projects in other areas.

“If response for the first phase is good, we will consider carrying on with the project and build more affordable houses.”

Pahang residents or those who had lived within the state for over five years can select their units at a Pahang sales office.
