Perak Chief Minister Ahmad Faizal Azumu revealed on Thursday (4 Oct) that the provision of 999-year leasehold land title for new villages in the state is still under deliberation, reported The Edge.
Currently, the state government of Perak cannot come up with a final decision as granting such a long leasehold tenure needs to undergo several processes like town hall sessions. It must be discussed with various authorities as well.
“At this point, I cannot give freehold title as the plan is to hold town hall meetings, and after that, I will bring all views and proposals to Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council as well as the National Land Council.”
“They can make whatever decision and I will adhere to it but for the time being, I will only give them (villagers) temporary occupation licence (TOL) grant for 99 years for them to obtain loans to build better houses,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Faizal also said the government of Perak will get a donation from the UK to preserve the state’s rich flora and fauna, particularly Royal Belum at Pulau Banding. The contribution is in recognition of the state authorities’ actions to preserve the endangered Malayan tigers and elephants.
Furthermore, Perak’s new township of Bandar Meru Raya will be transformed into a smart city, according to State Communication, Multimedia and NGO Committee Chairman Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim.
For instance, Bandar Meru Raya will be equipped with fibre optic cables for lightning fast internet. This in addition to its proximity to a highway and having its own administrative complex.
“Bandar Meru Raya already has the infrastructure as a smart city and we just need to add value with information communication and technology entrepreneurs operating here,” he said during the opening of the International Digital Technology Exhibition and 2018 Asia Pacific Digital Technology Simposium (APDiTS) on Wednesday (3 Oct).
