The government is set to raise the number of the 1Malaysia Civil Servants Housing (PPA1M) projects priced between RM90,000 and RM120,000 to help civil servants, particularly those in the B40 group, acquire their own home, reported Bernama.
The move comes amidst calls by the Congress of Union of Employees in the Public And Civil Services (CUEPACS) for the development of more PPA1M projects.
“In some places, it has been carried out. The challenge is in the Klang Valley because some issues have to be looked into, such us land and subsidy,” said Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa following the opening of CUEPACS Workers Day celebration.
“There are some projects where the government can give up to 30 percent subsidy, but we have to look at the total cost of construction.”
To date, the government has received 200,000 applications for PPA1M units, of which 147,000 applications are still being processed while over 10,000 had already been approved, said Ali.
