The KL East Mall, Sime Darby Property’s first fully-owned retail mall, will open in March 2020 and is located in the integrated KL East development in Taman Melati, Kuala Lumpur and occupies an area of 160 acres (6,969,600 sq ft).
The property also has a 1.2 million sq ft of gross built-up area and a 384,210 sq ft net lettable area, reported The Edge Markets.
Datuk Wan Hashimi Albakri Wan Ahmad Amin Jaffri, Sime Darby Property Acting Group CEO, said KL East Mall’s goal is to become the impetus for Sime Darby Property’s KL East development.
It also aims to attract the huge student population from the various educational institutions within its vicinity.

“KL East Mall is in an ideal position to enjoy a primary catchment of 1.28 million population with healthy purchasing power, through a total household income of RM29.5 billion per annum. The mall is also well positioned to attract a large student population, as there are various education institutions within its proximity,” he noted
“We expect to see more people coming to KL East, once developments in the area are fully complete. The growth in population will help transform KL East into a future business and education hub, making KL East Mall perfectly poised to reap the benefits of its thriving population.”
KL East Mall key tenants include Camp5, Blue Ice-Skating Rink, Harvey Norman, Café Chef Wan, Jaya Grocer, MBO, Toys ‘R’ Us, and Jungle Gym.
