Multiaward-winning Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD is highly regarded as “The Pulse of the Nation” – and for good reasons.

It is an urban regeneration success and in the process, it rejuvenates the entire country.

Today, Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD is acknowledged as Malaysia’s flagship transport oriented development (TOD). Some of the country’s most valuable real estate are found here. For communities, a combination of connectivity, convenience and convergence are meeting their ever changing needs with improved access to places, jobs and economic opportunities.

Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD is also recognised as the country’s Next Generation CBD designed to anticipate the future growth of Kuala Lumpur, hence the TOD’s many unparalleled advantages.

As the Next Generation CBD, it’s purpose-built to offer excellent accessibility and connectivity through seamless integration with Stesen Sentral Kuala Lumpur. This is the country’s largest and world-class transportation hub which connects directly to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport by Express Rail Link (ERL) in just under 28 minutes.

Perhaps knowing the background of how Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD came into being would help us better appreciate all it has to offer today.

In 1994, the government awarded a privatisation contract to Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) to construct Stesen Sentral Kuala Lumpur on a 72-acre KTMB train depot in Brickfields. The century-old area was to be regenerated into a modern transportation hub to be known as Kuala Lumpur Sentral development.

In 1997, following a concession agreement, Stesen Sentral Kuala Lumpur was surrendered to the government in exchange for development rights over the surrounding 72-acre freehold commercial land, later known as Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD.

Its total gross floor area of 19 million sq ft makes it the largest commercial development in the Malaysian capital.

Most CBDs are a result of chance and evolution, meaning you might have to wait for everything to be just right.

Do you know that Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD is a CBD shaped by design, not by chance? It’s born ready. In other words, it enjoys the benefits of long-term planning for today and far into the future.

With that, Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD was designed as the No. 1 business and lifestyle address in Malaysia for:

  • Business
  • Accessibility and connectivity
  • Entertainment
  • CBD living
  • Green lifestyle

Even the mix of businesses here is a well calculated move. This mix ranges from medium-sized enterprises to Fortune 500 multinationals, F&B and retail outlets, entertainment destinations, international hotels, banks, airline companies, eight major rail systems, green technology, residential spaces surrounded by greens, and a park and facilities for children.

Over the years, Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD has proven adept at meeting the demands of urban consumers, global business and travellers.

Building on Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD’s phenomenal success, PJ Sentral Garden City, Cyberjaya City Centre, the northern transport hub of Penang Sentral and Kwasa Sentral in Sungai Buloh all seek to emulate MRCB’s successful TOD formula. As the idiom goes, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
