Celebrity Datuk Nabbed Over Property Scam

5 Oct 2017

A 37-year old celebrity Datuk and his two accomplices have been arrested by the police for their involvement in a property scam in which they offer to sell a house below its market value.

The arrest comes after 188 police reports have been lodged against the two companies of the trio – Juta Kelulut Global Resources and DBI Properties.

Federal police Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani revealed that the Datuk and his accomplices masterminded a scheme that allowed a buyer to acquire a 1,650 sq ft bungalow for just RM60,000. He noted that a similar bungalow goes for around RM6.2 million.

The Datuk surrendered himself at a police station in Ampang, while the two others were arrested at a Setapak condominium.

During the raid of the suspect’s office at Wisma DBI in Ampang, the police seized two cars – a Nissan Fairlady and BMW E92, three smartphones as well as various documents including a PhD certificate from Samaritan Mission International University.

The suspects will be investigated for cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

With this, Acryl reminded the public to exercise caution when dealing with syndicates who manipulate people for their own gains.
