Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor revealed that the 80,000-unit target for the Federal Territories Affordable Housing (RUMAWIP) programme may be achieved this year, ahead of its initial deadline of 2020.
In fact, over 80 percent of the target had been achieved so far in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan under the “ready”, “under construction” as well as “development order” categories, he said.
Meanwhile, seven projects with 3,662 units in Kuala Lumpur and three projects with 332 units in Labuan had already been completed.
Tengku Adnan explained that the RUMAWAIP programme ensures that developers did not arbitrarily sell the housing units at unreasonable prices.
Targeted at both the middle- and low-income groups within the Federal Territories, RUMAWIP homes are equipped with basic amenities and priced at RM300,000 and below.
“There are 27 projects still open to residents in the Federal Territories and applications can be made at the RUMAWIP portal with a loan facility provided by the Federal Territories Foundation,” added Tengku Adnan.
