More local and foreign tourists are anticipated to flock towards Sabah following the completion of the RM12 million upgrade works at Kinabalu Park in the state capital of Kota Kinabalu.
The facilities in the park were improved under the 10th Malaysia Rolling Plan. These include the Burlington Hut and the workers’ quarters. The checkpoint counters and the operations office there were revamped as well.
The makeover was carried out Pembinaan HY Juta Bhd. It completed the upgrade works last 8 December and the firm’s representative Datuk Tiong Ing Sing officially handed over the facilities to Kinabalu Park Manager Yassin Miki recently.
According to Malaysia’s Tourism and Culture Ministry, local and foreign visitors to Kinabalu Park in Kota Kinabalu will benefit from better services thanks to the makeover costing RM12 million.
“The upgraded facilities would also help reduce the waiting time of climbers as well as increase the capacity of Mount Kinabalu to accommodate more visitors,” said the agency in a statement.
Furthermore, it revealed that a total of 1,119 foreigners and 1,550 Malaysians visited Mount Kinabalu last month, and visitor volume is anticipated to grow further.
