Taking a bold new step as an employer, Mah Sing Group (Mah Sing) unveiled UPLIVE, its new employer value proposition today in the Group’s newly renovated Headquarters, MS@Work.
Mah Sing’s Group Managing Director, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong Hoy Kum shared, “A company’s culture is important in developing employees and retaining their services for many years. We are an employer who cares about the progress of our employees as well as future MSians. UPLIVE is the culmination of the values we adopt in all Mah Sing employees and what we look for in talents.”
Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong was in attendance together with his senior management team, Mah Sing employees (dubbed MSians) as well as senior media officials.
Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong said, “UPLIVE’s 6 values are what represents Mah Sing as a company; a trusted property developer with a proven track record in delivering our projects and always innovating to suit the needs of homebuyers. We are a growing organisation and welcome talents who want to work in a fast paced environment where creative thinking is encouraged, and a fast track career development awaits high-achievers. Right now, we have a good balance of talented young blood and senior heads with vast experience in the property industry. There are more than 900 MSians working across the country and approximately 70 percent are under the age of 40.”
He continued, “UPLIVE is part of Mah Sing’s group-wide transformation which started taking shape in 2017, with the launch of our new corporate logo as well as our tagline ‘Reinvent Spaces.Enhance Life.’ Internally, we shaped the company to reflect the Group’s new values. We renovated our Headquarters which is now known as MS@Work and invested in various features such as open space offices, improved technology and entertainment spaces to improve productivity and performance as well as catering to the needs of MSians.”
Mah Sing’s New Headquarters – MS@Work
The entire building currently holds approximately 450 Mah Sing employees from various departments. As part of the recent renovations, all office spaces in MS@Work have an open office concept which encourages more social interaction between employees and flattens the hierarchical system. Even senior management have glass panels on their offices to project more transparency between them and employees.
Further encouraging social interaction are the breakout areas located in selected office spaces in MS@Work. The breakout areas are used for brainstorming sessions or discussions in a more casual setting.
MS@Work also has thematic wall prints placed in various office walls in the building. The wall prints have bright colours, motivational messages and inspiring images. The thematic wall prints symbolises the values of Mah Sing as an employer i.e. Superhero wall prints – we see our employees as superheroes, sports wall prints – our success is a team effort.
Thematic Meeting Rooms Add Vibrancy to Office Meetings
One of the standout features of MS@Work are its thematic meetings rooms on Level 2, each with its own unique design. Visitors are first greeted by the site of a replica batmobile reception counter and a pool table at the waiting area. There are a total of 11 thematic meetings rooms which cater to meetings of 5 people or up to 25 people. If used at the same time, the thematic meeting rooms can accommodate more than 100 people comfortably at one go.
In addition to the vibrant designs, most of Mah Sing’s meetings rooms are equipped with technological features such as projection facilities or LED TVs. Most of the rooms have video conferencing facilities which allows for quick and seamless communication with different regions. There are also WiFi connections for MSians and visitors which can be accessed anywhere in MS@Work.
The Group recently installed new software in all laptops and desktops which provide top end business essential features such as instant messaging, group chats, document sharing and more. The new system, which can also be ported to mobile devices, will let MSians stay connected with their teams and have access to their files anywhere and at any time.
Implementing Work-Life Balance in the Office
Another feature of Mah Sing’s new office is its in-house gym. The gym is fully equipped with multiple cardiovascular machines such as treadmills, ellipticals and rowing machines. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong shared, ‘Exercise is important and we want all MSians to have a healthy work attitude as well as a healthy mind and body. We encourage MSians to use our gym and we also have exercise classes such as Zumba and Body Combat after work hours. The response has been good as the gym and exercise classes are always full.”
The Group has also brought in entertainment facilities such as an entertainment room which employees can use for karaoke sessions, a pool table as well as a table tennis room. There is also a power nap room for those who need a quick shut eye.
The Group is also aware of the needs of nursing mothers and built a lactation room which has 3 private cubicles. The Group also renovated the men’s and ladies’ suraus in MS@Work to accommodate more Muslim employees.
“Mah Sing is a multi-cultured and multi-generation company. When we were planning the renovations of MS@Work, we put a lot of thought into the facilities we wanted to include to enhance the lives of our employees. I am proud that with our recent renovations, MS@Work can cater to almost every need of MSians,” said Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong.
