A RM250 million road project that is crucial to the redevelopment of Kampung Baru is set to commence in stages this year.
To be implemented by the Federal Territories Ministry, the project will connect Kampung Baru with the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) and the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH), reported Bernama.
Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the project, which is slated for completion in 2024, is the main prerequisite to enable larger developments within the Kampung Baru area.
“As we all know, the Kampung Baru redevelopment plan has been approved with a high plot ratio, thus it should have an efficient traffic flow,” he said as quoted by Bernama.
“This (redevelopment plan) will make Kampung Baru more open to an efficient traffic network system as it is relatively isolated and connected by small roads only.”

A tunnel will also be constructed from Jalan Raja Abdullah to Jalan Sultan Ismail and then back to AKLEH.
On another note, Annuar revealed that the beautification works at the Sungai Gombak riverbanks, which is known as the River City, will be implemented as part of the River of Life initiative.
The RM400 million project will use technology from South Korea and involve the construction of recreational space and an area for small business activities. It will be implemented in stages starting from Kampung Puah to the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) area.
