Marriott International To Manage Two IOI Properties' Hotels

20 May 2021

IOI Properties Group Bhd has inked agreements with Marriott International Inc for the management of its two signature hotels within IOI Resort City in Putrajaya – namely, Palm Garden Hotel and Putrajaya Marriott Hotel.

With the agreement, Putrajaya Marriott Hotel’s existing franchise arrangement will be converted “to a managed contract under the Premium brand, while the Palm Garden Hotel will be converted to the management of Marriott International under the Tribute Portfolio brand”, reported The Edge Markets.

Featuring a Mediterranean-Moorish architecture, the five-star Putrajaya Marriott Hotel occupies a 6.5-acre site and offers 380 guest rooms, 73 executive rooms as well as 35 exclusive suites.

The four-star Palm Garden Hotel, on the other hand, sits on a 788-acre land and offers 151 spacious rooms.

“This is in line with our business strategy of delivering excellence, creating value for stakeholders and developing sustainable communities,” he said as quoted by The Edge Markets.

“Our strong partnership with Marriott International since 2002 with the opening of Putrajaya Marriott Hotel augurs well for our stakeholders. Marriott International has a reputation for excellent service and quality. Their commitment to diversity and inclusion creates opportunities for local communities to thrive, fostering a positive sense of wellbeing in the society, which also reflects the corporate culture of the company.”

Rivero Delgado, Area Vice President – Singapore, Malaysia, Maldives, Marriott International said the agreement marks the group’s commitment to expand its diverse Marriott Bonvoy portfolio in Malaysia.

“We are thrilled to sign the agreement with IOI Properties to introduce the Tribute Portfolio brand to the administrative city of Putrajaya,” said Delgado.

Marriott International currently manages Le Méridien Putrajaya within IOI Resort City as well as Four Points by Sheraton Puchong, which are also part of IOI Properties’ hotel portfolio.

It is also set to manage the upcoming Moxy Putrajaya within IOI Resort City as well as the Sheraton Grand in IOI Palm City mixed development in China.
