Construction Consulting Companies Gets Green Light To Operate

Construction sector consulting firms in Phase 1 and 2 of the National Recovery Plan (PPN) have been granted the green light to operate from 24 August.

The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) said that the permission to operate applies to consulting services such as engineering, quantity surveying, architecture, and other related services, reported Bernama.

However, all firms should comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP), conditions and regulations enforced by the government.

“Applications to resume operations are only required for areas under Phase 1 and Phase 2,” said CIDB.

“The consulting companies can submit their applications through the Ministry of International Trade and Industry’s (MITI) COVID-19 Intelligent Management System (CIMS) at  https://notification.miti.gov.my/, under the Construction cluster by choosing among the sectors listed,” it added as quoted by Bernama.

These sectors include Sector 27 that covers professional or consultancy services relating to types of work permitted. Also included are Sector 32 (office operations) as well as Sector 33 (other works or construction activities not included in Sectors 1 to 32) that are allowed to operate based on declaration relating to employee vaccination rates.

CIDB is authorized to shut down construction sites that are found to be violating the provisions under Act 520 or other laws, including Act 342 or Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 as well as Act 446 or Workers’ Minimum Standards of Housing and Amenities Act 1990.
