Lack of Hoarding at Condo Project Alarms Residents

A condominium project beside a children’s playground in Jalan SPM 7 has caused alarm among the residents of Taman Sri Putramas in Sungai Buloh, reported The Star.

This comes as the project has no hoarding to block off the piling work that began last week.

“There is no hoarding to serve as a barricade between the playground and project area,” said 69-year old resident Somunaidu Nookaiah, adding that a complaint regarding the project was filed at the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) last week.

“Besides this, the condominium showhouse is located opposite my house and because of this I am having trouble getting in and out of my house, especially on weekends,” he said.

“I am also concerned about the pollution caused by the piling work and also fear that the vibration will cause cracks in our houses.”

The lack of hoarding has prevented other residents, such as Betty Ho, to take her grandchildren to the playground for fear of their safety.

“The piling rods are huge and I am afraid they could roll onto the playground,” said the 64-year old grandmother.

“My house is three doors away from Somunaidu’s house and I also face problems on weekends as vehicles are parked all along the road, blocking our entrance,” she added.

The developer’s representative, however, has assured that a 2.3m zinc hoarding would be placed within the area in two weeks.

“As for the showhouse, we will move the location by September as our main showhouse is yet to be completed. Residents should not fear as we are using a modern method of piling that causes less vibration and earth movement,” explained the representative.

“The condominium project, which consists of three 18-storey blocks, will be completed in four years. We have obtained all the necessary approvals from the relevant authorities, including MPS, for this project,” added the representative.

MPS corporate affairs deputy director Ahmad Fauzi Ishak has confirmed the project, saying that the developer had complied with the guidelines for the construction.
