TA Global Bhd’s DA Square @ Damansara Avenue – which is set for launch in December – has already secured 100% occupancy, with Japanese apparel retailer Uniqlo as its anchor tenant, reported The Edge.
“We are honoured to have Uniqlo as our main anchor tenant at DA Square to develop the brand’s first roadside store in Malaysia. TA Global and Uniqlo are natural partners as both possess a deep respect for our crafts and commitment to quality,” said TA Global CEO Tiah Joo Kim.
“I believe our partnership will bring to life a shared vision that will alter the landscape of Bandar Sri Damansara and will stimulate the community, vitality and the economy of the neighbourhood and our development. We are thrilled to welcome them on board.”
The development will have a total gross floor area of 43,650 sq ft. Other tenants include Starbucks, 7-Eleven, The Brew House, Mr Bento, Victoria 25 Café and Fook Yin Lau.
“Though it is a contemporary construction, DA Square will fulfil its purpose as a precursor to Ativo Annexe, offering the public a preview of the many more exciting retail and lifestyle venues that the next phase of our masterplan will bring. We are highly confident that Uniqlo and all our anchor tenants at DA Square will continue to stay and grow with us as the masterplan unfolds,” said Tiah.
Meanwhile, Uniqlo Malaysia and Singapore Chief Executive Officer Yuki Yamada noted that the roadside store at DA Square marks their continuous expansion.
“It is a new type of store for Malaysia that complements our existing network of mall-based stores,” he said.
“Our new store is carefully designed to ensure enough space and accessibility for all, including families with children, elderly people and people with disability, and will feature its own car park for our customers. Essentially, the new Uniqlo roadside store will serve as a close-to-home store for customers in Bandar Sri Damansara.”
DA Square is part of Damansara Avenue in Bandar Sri Damansara. The 48-acre masterplan, which has a total gross development value of RM10 billion, is set to be developed over the next 10 to 15 years, featuring residential and retail components as well as office towers, a dedicated sports complex, a shopping mall and a performing arts centre.
