Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak revealed that the development of Malaysia Vision Valley (MVV) in Negri Sembilan would improve the lives of people living in the state as the project is expected to attract over RM290 billion in investments, reported Bernama.
Spanning over 153,000 hectares, the world-class city will include the districts of Seremban and Port Dickson.
It will be built in phases until 2045 and will feature five main components – Nature City, Edu-Tech Valley, Tourism and Wellness, New Liveable Township and the Central Business District.
The large-scale development is also public-private partnership initiative, said PM Najib after officiating a signing ceremony involving three companies jointly spearheading the project.
These are Sime Darby Bhd, which owns a 50 percent stake in development, while Brunsfield International Group and Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (KWAP) each holds a 25 percent interest.
Malaysia Vision Valley Holdings Sdn Bhd is the master developer.
Najib highlighted that MVV will feature eight projects like the Tourism District, the World Knowledge City, Biopolis and Wellness City, the Integrated Transport District, Sports and Recreational City, as well as the High Tech Park and Industrial Campus.
In all, these are anticipated to create 1.38 million new jobs.
“MVV will provide affordable housing, built over 404 hectares, as well as, public amenities, recreational facilities and a green lung all sprawled over another 404 hectares,” noted Najib, adding that it will also come with an integrated high-speed rail transportation hub in Labu that will link the development with Bandar Malaysia, KLIA and Singapore.
Furthermore, a road network will be built in the city under the RM560 million Eleventh Malaysia Plan.
“Several other projects like the highway network and integrated high-speed rail service to connect to surrounding areas in KLIA are also under consideration,” Najib added.
Malaysia Vision Valley is expected to be unveiled, depending on the Prime Minister’s schedule, between July and August 2017 or after the Southeast Asia Games, said Negri Sembilan Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
