Yong Tai Berhad (YTB) is proud to announce the opening of Encore Melaka during the second quarter of this year. The announcement comes together with the official visit of the Chief Minister of Melaka, YAB Datuk Seri Utama Ir. Ts. Hj. Idris bin Hj. Haron to Encore Melaka’s site recently.

Encore Melaka is a privately financed project by Yong Tai Berhad and managed by its subsidiary PTS Impression Sdn Bhd.

Encore Melaka will be a visual and audio experience for the audience featuring astounding projection mapping, intricate theatre props along with 200 performers. The inclusiveness of Melaka – a good model of multicultural coexistence is expressed through the blend of traditional and contemporary dance forms. In an approximately 70 mins show, audience would go through the 7 hundred years of local life stories.

Yong Tai’s CEO Datuk Wira Boo Kuang Loon said the opening of Encore Melaka theatre will be a game-changer for tourism in Melaka, propelling Melaka into the global spotlight. He commented: “We seek to contribute to significantly increase the flow of tourists in Melaka, contributing to economic growth in 2019 and beyond”.

Datuk Wira Boo also stated: “Every effort must take into account local needs and interests, as well as provide job opportunities for the local community. We aim to promote the participation of small businesses in the cultural tourism. We are confident the project will inject approximately RM 300m a year into the local economy”.

“A project such as Encore Melaka is an example of a healthy tourism business with a positive economic impact and relevant secondary effects associated to it”, expressed YAB Datuk Seri Utama Ir. Ts. Hj. Idris bin Hj. Haron, Chief Minister of Melaka.

Encore Melaka is working closely with tourism officials especially the Minister of Tourism and Tourism Melaka to maximise the impact of this project. “We want to reach out to the broadest possible potential clientele. For this reason, we have been participating to more than a dozen tourism trade fairs, both in Malaysia and abroad,” said Datuk Wira Boo Kuang Loon.

Encore Melaka takes pride in its local production team and capability. From the performers to the crews, from the content of the show to the song composition, there is a good balance between the needed knowledge transfer from China and the effort to preserve local cultural identity.
