Residents at Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) has found a new reason to smile following news that Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) has rejected the proposed redevelopment of the Tadika Diyana Kindergarten lot in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI).
Taman Tun Dr Ismail Residents’ Association (TTDI RA) recently received a letter dated 29 August 2018 from DBKL, in which the latter denied the application to redevelop the site at Lorong Datuk Sulaiman 1 in TTDI with the rejection notice issued on 23 July 2018, reported The Edge.
“We have submitted our objection letters and petition in February this year and we wish to extend our appreciation to all the residents who submitted the objection,” said TTDI RA chairman Hafiz Abu Bakar.
Plans for the 35,000 sq m site involve the development of two seven-storey office towers with two levels of parking.
Sources revealed that the land is owned by TTDI-based developer Amalan Setar (M) Sdn Bhd.
Tadika Diyana, which has been operating on the site for more than 20 years, is set to cease operations by end-2019.
TTDI residents were worried that the proposed commercial development project within the residential area would lead to increased crowd – jeopardising the traffic condition and living environment of the area.
With this, almost 1,400 residents submitted objection letters to DBKL in February 2018.
Looking ahead, Hafiz reminded TTDI residents to always be on the lookout for potential condominium and commercial development within the area, especially on public open spaces.
