PKNS To Continue Focusing On Low-cost Houses

The construction of low-cost homes will remain as the main objective of Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) to provide affordable shelter to low- and medium-income households.

This goal is in accordance with the Ministry of Housing’s promise to build one million low-cost dwellings in the next decade, according to Ishak Hashim, Corporate Communications Manager of PKNS, reported Bernama.

“PKNS is confident that the affordable homes programme, which has been branded as ‘Rumah Selangorku Idaman PKNS’, will provide a better life for the people in the state,” he said on Sunday (3 March).

Moreover, Ishak revealed that PKNS had recently unveiled its Selangorku Idaman Residensi project at Section 6 in Selangor Cyber Valley (SCV), the 11th new growth centre being undertaking by the firm that could see the influx of businesses and investments.

The development consists of two blocks offering a total of 864 units, including four homes intended for persons with disabilities These are priced from RM232,000 apiece, with built-up areas measuring from 1,000 sq ft. Each home also comes with two bathrooms and three bedrooms, with buyers entitled to two parking units.

Expected to be ready by December 2020 and the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) anticipated to be received in mid-2021, the development will feature a nursery, playground, surau, three shoplots, multi-purpose halls, and a room for holding funerals.

“The residence is located in a smart city close to a major highway, shopping centres and educational institutions which would be a major factor for potential buyers before deciding to buy a home and property,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Ishak said people who want to purchase a PKNS unit need to officially list their names with the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS), as the former only sells homes to applicants screened by the board and validated by the Selection Committee for the List of Buyers of Affordable Homes.
