Mount Austin

Mount Austin, which is also known as Austin Heights, is one of the most popular residential estates in Johor Bahru, Johor.   Strategically located between Taman Setia Indah and Taman Daya, it started off as the most convenient place to stay for those who travel daily to Singapore for work purposes.  Throughout the years, it has evolved and now has attracted many expatriates who stay in Johor Bahru.  There are large communities of Koreans and Japanese who call it home away from home.  This neighbourhood has many types of properties.  Although the majority is high rise consisting of condominiums and service apartments, there are also landed terrace houses, semi detached homes, offices, and shop lots as well as industrial buildings.

Mount Austin is well connected to many neighbouring suburbs such as Taman Johor Jaya, Taman Setia Indah and  Taman Daya.  These are matured estates and residents in Mount Austin can easily drive to enjoy the amenities available here.   The good network of roads linking Mount Austin include the main road Jalan Pandan, and Pasir Gudang Highway on to Jalan Kota Tinggi.  For those who want to travel to the beaches of Desaru, there is the Senai-Desaru Expressway (SDE, E22) connecting Senai to Desaru in the East Coast of Johor.  For public transport, there are many buses and taxis which head there, although there are not yet any trains or LRTs in Johor Bahru.

Recreational activities are pretty limited in Mount Austin with only one outdoor park nearby, which is the Setia Indah Park.  However, there is the famous Austin Heights Water & Adventure Park for families to enjoy a fun-filled day.  Sports enthusiasts can venture to the Mount Austin Sports Stadium.

For those who love indoor relaxation, food, and retail therapy, Mount Austin offers a wide variety of choices.   Well known for having many restaurants and especially its Bubble Tea outlets, one can enjoy this food haven offering  all types of cuisines such as Western, Korean and especially its Korean BBQ Buffet, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indian, Chinese, and many others.  Dubbed as the Little Taiwan of Johor Bahru because of its many Bubble Tea outlets, one can spend a relaxing afternoon at its numerous Bubble Tea outlets, cafes or even go for an invigorating body massage or wind down at a SPA.  A session of Karaoke will spice up a night out after dinner.  For shopping and entertainment or movies, there are nearby malls such as AEON Mall Tebrau City, AEON Mall Bandar Dato’ Onn, Toppen Shopping Centre, and IKEA Tebrau.  Groceries are available at Tesco Extra Tebrau City, Giant Hypermarket Plentong, and Mydin Hypermarket Pelangi Indah.
