Titiwangsa Lake Gardens, one of the capital’s most visited public spaces, was closed on Saturday (1 Sep) so that it can undergo a one-year renovation, reported The Star.
Known in Malay as Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, the popular hang-out spot’s facilities and amenities will be enhanced as part of Kuala Lumpur’s River of Life project, which aims to turn the Klang River into a flourishing waterfront area.
Notably, the 110km River of Life project is one of the key initiatives under the Economic Transformation Programme for Greater Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) revealed that the authorities have started closing down the lake in phases since 14 May 2018.
“The closure was to allow upgrading works on facilities for the convenience and comfort of visitors in the future.”
“As of 1 September, Titiwangsa Lake will be completely closed off to the public except a for a jogging path,” it said, adding that people should be careful when using the jogging path.
Despite the lake’s closure, three facilities there will remain open, namely the Kuala Lumpur Horse Riding Centre, DBKL Enforcement Training Centre and Restoran D’Saji Titiwangsa.
Titiwangsa Lake Gardens is anticipated to reopen by November 2019.
