Taman Rimba Kiara Project May Be Subjected To Public Hearing

A public hearing may still be needed for the controversial Taman Rimba Kiara condominium project. This comes as redevelopment proposals or resubmissions for projects that are not consistent with the gazetted Kuala Lumpur City Plan (KLCP) 2020 will still undergo a public hearing.

The KLCP 2020 was gazetted in 2018 based on the plan’s last updated version in 2015. A total of 273 projects were found to have contravened the plan, which were recorded as an addendum, reported The Star.

Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh noted that the need for public hearing for such projects was confirmed by Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad.

“Those (projects) with violations are very controversial like the Taman Rimba Kiara, which is one of the 29 violation listed in Segambut constituency,” she said.

“You have to continue to engage with the people because otherwise they will feel cheated.”

Meanwhile, Yeoh lauded the Federal Territories Ministry’s move to appoint six MPs in Kuala Lumpur City Hall committees.

“We have been fighting for local government elections of the mayor, and the Housing and Local Government Ministry is working on it…The people of Kuala Lumpur are mature and for it,” she said.

“Meanwhile, a good way now is to get elected representatives involved.”
